How research works since 2 October, and where recipes come from.

These are the Beta rules as of 2 October 2026, each from the newest official source on that point. Rules change by patch: check the latest official posts.

Research

• Nine crafting skills level through Research.
• Since 2 October no Blank Schematic is needed: drag a crafted item into Research. Each item uses 5 papyrus and one tenth of an ink.
• The queue is 1 hour free or 12 hours with premium.
• Older sources, including the wiki’s Research page, still say a Blank Schematic is required; they predate the 2 October patch.

Recipes

• Gear recipes unlock in tiers, and recipes drop from monsters by tier.
• Papyrus drops from casters at about 10 to 11%, per the 1 and 2 October notes. No official drop-rate table exists, so we show none.
